Artist’s Statement:

 

The history of brown feminism in the sub-continent, has been one of stepping out, stepping up and stepping forward. This photograph is a reflection on and celebration of that.

Anannya Dasgupta is a poet and photographer who lives in Chennai, India. Her photographs can be found online Wonderwall Gallery, among other places. She is the author of a book of poems Between Sure Places. She teaches literature and writing at Krea University where she directs the Centre for Writing and Pedagogy.
